Configuration Management in a Test Centre

Presentation Abstract

This author will present the method to manage the configuration of the testware and the items to be tested in a test centre. A brief description of the method is as follows:
* define the configuration item of the physical and logical components;
* define the level of detail of the hardware, software and documentation;
* develop the data model and the relationships of the configuration items;
* define the information to be stored in the database (configuration management database);
* develop Dynamic Software Library and Dynamic Test Library with different environments for development, test and production;
* set-up the change management process and release management process which are the important processes as interface to the clients; these are actually the processes to provide the services to the client of the test centre;
* implement the Configuration Management Database, the Dynamic Software Library and Dynamic Test Library;

About the Author

Mr. Kie Liang Tan has studied (1971 1977) in the Technical University of Delft as Electrical Engineer with field of specification Information Technology and Data Communication. He has 23 years experience in ICT (Information Communication Technology) in different areas, i.e: Telecommunication, Medical Systems, Space Systems, Finance, Trade, Transport and Industry. He has significant experience in the area of test and verification coordination and management. He has joined CMG since 1998 and worked in the TestFrame, Software Testing and Test Centre as senior management consultant.
