By using traditional load testing tools alone, testers could be missing up to 35 percent of bottlenecks caused by firewalls, routers or ISP peering issues. In Mercury Interactives recent white paper Common Web Site Problems Identified by ActiveTest, testing experts revealed that these bottlenecks are detected only by testing from outside the firewall. This finding strongly indicates that companies need to expand their traditional testing regimen to include load testing from outside the firewall on production systems.
