The interlocking systems are railway devices responsible for the control and management of the signal and field equipment. They are safety critical real-time systems. The railway sector is a fast-change environment nowadays. New standards and new technologies are being introduced. Within this environment, Alcatel has developed a new interlocking system that complies with all the new demands. This conference will present a view over the validation process followed in this project: process features theoretical methodology and its deployment tools, commercial and self developed tools used in the life cycle results, including some figures for: effort time. number of test cases

About the Author

Mr. Francisco Vega: Industrial Engineer. Since 1989 working for ALCATEL, for its Transport Automation Division in Spain. He is responsible of the Software Process Improvement and Quality of the technical area, and Quality Manager of the electronic interlocking developments. This includes the overall responsibility and management over the validation area.
